Matteo Fantauzzo



After graduating from the University of Terano in 2016, Matteo completed several externships in both Italy and the UK and worked in general practice before joining Southfields Veterinary Specialists as an intern.  Matteo is particularly interested in medical oncology, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and clinical pathology and is currently studying for a Masters Degree in Veterinary Oncology.

In his spare time, Matteo loves to cook, travel and spend time with family and friends, especially his beloved Labrador, Baloo.

Isabel-Martorell Albaladejo

Isabel Martorell Albaladejo



Isabel graduated from the University CEU Cardinal Herrera in Spain in 2015 and then went on to complete externships in Spain and America.  Once her externships were complete, Isabel started her rotating internship at the ARS Veterinaria Hospital in Barcelona, gaining her experience in all areas, but in particular in her main subject of interest, soft tissue surgery.

Isabel joined the Southfields Veterinary Specialists team in March 2018.

When not at work, Isabel enjoys walking her dogs and taking part in sports such as surfing and running.


Maria Giulia



Maria graduated from the University of Bologna in 2015 and spent a year working in a first opinion practice in Italy before moving to the UK in 2016.  She worked in general practice in London, treating dogs, cats and exotic pets, before joining Southfields in May 2018.  

Maria's areas of interest are surgery, emergency and critical care, dermatology and internal medicine and she wishes to pursue further specialisation in the future.

Away from work, Maria cares for her pet Chihuahua and two cats, and enjoys travelling, photography and spending time with her family and friends.


Sara Cermeno



Prior to joining Southfields in June 2018, Sara graduated from the University of Barcelona in 2014 and worked in a small animal first opinion and emergency practice for a year. Sara then completed a one-year rotating internship in a referral hospital, before undertaking further rotating and speciality internships in Spain and the UK. In 2017, she moved to the UK to work in an out of hours emergency service, before joining Southfields in June 2018. Sara’s main area of interest is in internal medicine.

When she is not at work, Sara likes to travel and volunteers for a non-government organisation in Uganda, working with small and large animals, working against rabies and performing sterilisation.


Matteo Pignanelli



Matteo graduated from the University of Milan in 2015 with a masters degree in Veterinary Medicine and then joined Southfields to complete a three-month internship. Matteo then worked in First Opinion General Practice for one year, before coming back to Southfields to complete a rotating internship.

His areas of particular interest are internal medicine and oncology and Matteo hopes to continue with a residency programme and become a board-certified Specialist. 



Simona Borgonovi



Simona graduated from the University of Milan in December 2017, with a masters degree with honours in veterinary medicine. She spent the fifth university year with the Erasmus program at the University of Madrid. After graduation, Simona completed several externships in Italy, Spain and then at Southfields.

In her spare time, Simona enjoys travelling, cooking and outdoor activities such as joggin and cycling. 

Virginia-Merino Gutierrez

Virginia Merino Gutierrez



Virginia graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2014. After graduation she worked in a cardiology reference centre in Spain for 3 years and gained a certificate of cardiology of ESYPS and the small animal cardiology certificate of Complutense University of Madrid. She then moved to Barcelona and enrolled into a one year rotating internship in a referral hospital, where she gained an interest in internal medicine. Virginia joined Southfields in November 2018. 

In her spare time, Virginia enjoys reading, doing sport and spending time with dog Nani, family and friends.
