Clinician in Diagnostic Imaging
Friederike graduated from the University of Munich in Germany and worked part-time in referral practices as a locum whilst pursuing her doctoral thesis in veterinary and nuclear medicine. She stayed in research (nuclear medicine and basic immunology) for several years working at the University of Munich and UC Davis in California, where she developed a strong interest in clinical diagnostic imaging.
After returning to Germany, Friederike completed a 4 year residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Giessen, with externships at the University of Ghent and Bern. After 1.5 years at the University of Liège veterinary school in Belgium and 2.5 years at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, Friederike joined the diagnostic imaging team at Southfields in August 2018.
Friederike enjoys all modalities of diagnostic imaging and enjoys being involved with all the different disciplines of veterinary medicine. She loves working in a happy, friendly environment with highly qualified colleagues.
Crystal graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2011. After spending four years in general practices in Kent and Buckinghamshire, she completed a rotating small animal internship at the University of Liverpool. In 2016, she moved to Derbyshire to undertake a Diagnostic Imaging internship at Pride Veterinary Centre. After completing this, Crystal spent a year working as an ultrasonographer at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists. She started a 3- year Diagnostic Imaging residency at the Royal Veterinary College in 2018, which she completed in the summer of 2021.
In her spare time, Crystal likes rambling around the countryside with her Goldendoodle Peanut.
Crystal joined the team at Southfields in August 2021.
Senior Imaging Nurse
Jessica is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who joined the Southfields Veterinary Specialists’ team in December 2017 as a Diagnostic Imaging Nurse. She is currently studying for her CertVNECC (a qualification designed for veterinary nurses who have an interest in extending their knowledge and understanding of small animal emergency and critical care nursing).
Jessica thoroughly enjoys diagnostic imaging, particularly CT and is also very interested in emergency and critical care medicine.
Katie started her career as a veterinary care assistant and worked her way up to become a qualified veterinary nurse in 2017. Always wanting to work in a referral practice, Katie joined Southfields in April 2019. She has a keen interest in orthopaedics and radiography.
In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit, spending time with her friends and family and taking her Bichon Frise, Tilly for lovely walks.
David graduated from the University of León in September 2012. After graduation, David did a master’s degree on Veterinary Medicine Research. Subsequently, David started his professional experience as an emergency vet in a first opinion hospital in Spain. One year after, David travelled to Portugal where he worked in two small animal first opinion practices for 18 months.
In 2016, David moved to the U.K. where he started working in Rowe Veterinary Hospital, a busy first opinion and referral hospital where he became motivated by and very interested to learn more about diagnostic imaging working along a very experience ultrasonographer.
In February 2018, David started a rotating internship at North Downs Specialist Referrals where he became more passionate about radiology.
Over the last 2 years, David has been working in Rowe Veterinary Hospital and in an emergency hospital in Cambridge while visiting different diagnostic imaging departments throughout the U.K.
David has recently successfully finished his CertAVP (VDI) at Liverpool University.
He enjoys all the imaging modalities but particularly computed tomography and neuroimaging.
In his spare time, he likes travelling, doing sports (especially football) and cooking.
