Our Rotating Interns are all recently qualified vets who are undertaking an internship at Southfields as part of their post-graduate training. They work in close collaboration with senior clinicians in each discipline. 


Stergios Alexopoulos

Rotating Intern

DVM, MRCVS

Stergios graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2020.

Soon after graduation he started working in a busy hospital in Athens Greece for 2 years. During this time he enrolled in a postgraduate certificate in small animal medicine. He moved to the UK in 2022 and worked for a busy first opinion hospital in London for 1 year.

His main areas of interest are internal medicine, neurology, and oncology.


Maria Fernandez Gallego

Rotating Intern

DVM, MRCVS

Maria graduated from CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Valencia, Spain) in 2022. During her studies, she volunteered in the Faculty´s Hospital for three consecutive years.

After qualifying, she moved to the East Midlands (UK) where she worked as a new graduate vet in a busy first-opinion practice for 15 months.

She then joined Southfields Veterinary Specialists in February 2024 as a Rotating Intern to further develop her skills and knowledge. Maria is passionate about all areas of small animal medicine, but has a keen interest in Internal Medicine, Ethology and Feline Medicine.

In her spare time, she loves hiking, going on wildlife-watching trips, reading, and spending time with her rescued pets: a mischievous Domestic Shorthair cat and an English Pointer.


Jessica Lobb

Rotating Intern

BVSc MRCVS

Jessica qualified from the University of Bristol in 2022 and spent her first 18 months as a general practitioner in a busy hospital in Swindon.
She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine but has a particular interest in neurology.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys running, tennis and spending time with her family, friends and cat.


Alexandra Marculescu

Rotating Intern

DVM, MRCVS

Alexandra graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest (Romania) in 2013, and has been practicing small animal medicine ever since, mostly in Romania but also in the UK for a short period of time in a busy first opinion practice.

In the past five years Alexandra has mainly focused on anaesthesia, analgesia and emergency and critical care, as they are her main interest areas.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time in nature, hiking and reading.


Kenja-Lee Millar

Rotating Intern

BSc(Hons) BVSc MRCVS

Kenja-Lee is from South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2020, after which she completed her service year in mixed practice.
She moved to the UK in 2022 and started working as a first opinion veterinary surgeon.

Kenja-Lee has a particular interest in internal medicine and critical care.

Outside of work she enjoys travelling, reading and dragging her two dogs on walks. Arthur who is very active and loves adventures and Jamie who is very lazy and would rather stay home.


Tiffany Pereira

Rotating Intern

Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine

Tiffany graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Évora, Portugal, in 2019.

She worked in a first opinion practice for a year and then moved to France to do an internship in small animal veterinary surgery. After that she applied for an internship in small animal veterinary neurology.

In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys going to the cinema, reading and spending time with her family and friends.


Alberto Petranzan

Rotating Intern

DVM, MRCVS

Alberto is an Italian Vet who studied his Veterinary Degree in Valencia Spain.
He has a strong interest in exotic animals and in the future would like to become a specialist.

In his free time, Alberto likes to go to the gym, play video games, go to gigs and he enjoys wildlife photography, although he is an amateur.

Alberto has a passion for reptiles and is a board member of the oldest Italian Herpetological Association.


Kasia Szostek

Rotating Intern

MRCVS

Kasia graduated from the University of Life Sciences in Warsaw in 2022. Shortly after, she moved to the UK to start working in a busy first opinion practice. During her studies, she developed a special interest in small animal neurology.

Outside of work, she enjoys climbing, traveling, and exploring new places with her friends.


Genaro Vargas

Rotating Intern

BVetMed MRCVS

Genaro qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2020, and since then has worked in busy first opinion practices in Chesterfield and London.
His main areas of interest include neurology and surgery, but he enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine.

Outside of work, he enjoys nights out in London, travelling, and playing the violin or viola in the Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra.
