With experience and expertise in every aspect of imaging relating to the care of pets, our Diagnostic Imaging team enable swift diagnosis moving to more rapid and appropriate identification of treatment options. The team includes Clinicians and Diagnostic Imaging nurses, who have specific experience in caring for pets throughout the diagnostic process, to ensure it is as stress-free as possible for your pet, and for you.

Luca Lapira

Diagnostic Imaging Consultant

DVM, MRCVS

Luca graduated in Italy in 2016 and worked for a few years as a GP before starting to focus his career in Diagnostic Imaging. He has always been interested in Scientific research, especially if applied to the field he likes the most which is Radiology.

In his spare time Luca loves to practice some sports (snowboarding, kitesurfing, climbing and playing football) and long hikes with his dog. He also likes to play the guitar.


Jessica Jackson

Senior Diagnostic Imaging Registered Veterinary Nurse

RVN, CertVNECC

Jessica is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who joined the Southfields Veterinary Specialists’ team in December 2017 as a Diagnostic Imaging Nurse. Jessica has more than 6 years' experience working as part of a diagnostic imaging team, operating and performing basic and advanced diagnostic imaging.

Jessica thoroughly enjoys diagnostic imaging, particularly CT and is also very interested in emergency and critical care medicine and in 2017 completed her CertVNECC certificate.

In her spare time, she enjoys keeping fit, spending time with her husband and her two handsome nephews; as well as enjoying cuddles with her Lilac British shorthair Doris and her Staffordshire bull terrier Bruce.


Katie Lewis

Diagnostic Imaging Registered Veterinary Nurse

Katie is currently studying towards her FdSC Degree in Veterinary Nursing at Nottingham Trent University and joined Southfields in June 2018.

Through her studies, Katie has discovered that she has interests in anatomy, specifically the kidneys and the skeleton.


Briney Miller

Diagnostic Imaging Patient Care Assistant

Level 2 BTEC Technicals Animal Care diploma

Briney has always been interested in Animal Care and enrolled in the Level 2 BTEC Technicals Animal Care course at Capel Manor College. After completing her diploma, Briney moved into the veterinary industry and worked at a rehoming centre. Briney joined Southfields in June 2019 as one of our Nursing Assistants.

In her spare time, Briney enjoys reading and walking her dogs.


Katie Mills

Senior Diagnostic Imaging Registered Veterinary Nurse

RVN

Katie Joined Southfields in April 2019, she began her Southfields journey working as a multi-disciplinary veterinary nurse and in December 2019 made the move to join the Imaging team as Diagnostic Imaging Nurse.

Katie enjoys all parts of Imaging, especially CT and taking specialist radiographs.

In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with friends and family, and also playing with her two new kittens, Nala and Loki!


Friederike Rau

Clinician in Diagnostic Imaging

DrMedVet MRCVS

Friederike graduated from the University of Munich in Germany and worked part-time in referral practices as a locum whilst pursuing her doctoral thesis in veterinary and nuclear medicine. She stayed in research (nuclear medicine and basic immunology) for several years working at the University of Munich and UC Davis in California, where she developed a strong interest in clinical diagnostic imaging.

After returning to Germany, Friederike completed a 4 year residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Giessen, with externships at the University of Ghent and Bern. After 1.5 years at the University of Liège veterinary school in Belgium and 2.5 years at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, Friederike joined the diagnostic imaging team at Southfields in August 2018.

Friederike enjoys all modalities of diagnostic imaging and enjoys being involved with all the different disciplines of veterinary medicine. She loves working in a happy, friendly environment with highly qualified colleagues.
