Rotating Interns TEAM
Our Rotating Interns are all recently qualified vets who are undertaking an internship at Southfields as part of their post-graduate training. They work in close collaboration with senior clinicians in each discipline.
Zografia Agorastou
Rotating Intern
DVM, MRCVS
Zografia graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2022 and moved to the UK straight away. Working in busy Veterinary Hospitals for the past two years she is dedicated, passionate and diligent.
She joined the team in July 2025 to expand her knowledge and further develop her skills.
Zografia finds all aspects of veterinary medicine fascinating, with a particular interest in Dermatology and a long term goal of becoming a specialist in the field.
Beatriz Delgado
Rotating Intern
DVM, MSc, MRCVS
Beatriz earned her Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (Portugal) in 2024. During her studies, she gained hands-on experience in small animal practices, hospitals, and through volunteering with animal welfare associations, which helped foster her interest in internal medicine and cardiology.
She conducted research on the relationship between electrocardiographic parameters and cardiac remodelling in dogs with myxomatous mitral valve disease, for which she received the SPCAV-Ceva 2024 prize for best
dissertation in cardiology at the XII Annual Portuguese Society of Veterinary Cardiology Congress.
After qualifying, she moved to the UK and began working in a busy first opinion practice, where she completed the VetGDP programme. In July 2025, Beatriz joined Southfields Veterinary Specialists as a Rotating Intern to
expand her clinical experience across multiple disciplines and take the first step towards specialising in cardiology.
Outside of work, she enjoys going to the gym, reading, travelling, and spending time with friends, family, and her beloved dog Marley.
Sonia Duarte
Rotating Intern
MRCVS
Sonia studied Veterinary Medicine in Portugal and graduated in 2017 in Lisbon. She started working in the United Kingdom in 2018 in small animal practice.
She developed an interest in Cardiology over the last few years and has been training echocardiography. Sonia is currently doing an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Cardiology.
Sonia has two fluffy cats that love cuddles and she enjoys reading and playing videogames at home. She loves going on walks at nature parks and traveling.
Coral Garcia
Rotating Intern
DVM, MRCVS
Coral graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2022. During her studies, she gained valuable experience by collaborating with various services at the Faculty’s teaching hospital, including Internal Medicine and Bacterial and Parasitic Diseases. To broaden her expertise, Coral moved to Belgium before graduation to complete a rotating internship at the University of Ghent.
In early 2023, she relocated to the UK, where she worked in a fast-paced first opinion practice for two and a half years. There, she began as a consulting veterinarian and eventually focused on inpatient care.
Coral has a special interest in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, and neurology, which she continues to explore and develop through ongoing professional growth. In July 2025, she joined Southfields Veterinary
Specialists to further advance her career in these areas.
Outside of work, Coral enjoys traveling, attending concerts, playing guitar, singing, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
Betina Gomes
Rotating Intern
DVM, MsC, MRCVS
Betina is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian who joined Southfields Veterinary Specialists in November 2024. She earned her Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Lisbon in 2019, where she contributed to research on gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and hematologic parasites in the dog population of Funchal, Madeira Island.
With a professional background in small animal medicine in both clinic and hospital environments in Portugal, Betina moved to the UK in 2023 to pursue further growth in veterinary care.
She has a strong interest in emergency and critical care, as well as internal medicine, along with specialized training in ultrasound and clinical analysis.
Betina's lifelong passion for animal welfare is rooted in her upbringing, surrounded by animals from beloved chickens to giant St. Bernards. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running and spending time with her dog, Vida, and her cat, Pan.
Júlia Molins Torrades
Rotating Interns
DVM, MRCVS
Júlia graduated from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 2021. During her studies, she participated in an Erasmus+ program in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, gaining valuable international experience.
Following graduation, she moved to Dublin, Ireland, where she worked for three years as a general practitioner across several clinics. She then completed a one-year rotating internship at the University College Dublin Veterinary Hospital, further developing her clinical expertise.
Júlia has a strong interest in Internal Medicine, with a particular passion for Feline Medicine and haematological disorders.
Outside of work, she is very sociable and enjoys traveling, practicing Pilates, hiking, and spending time with friends.
Monica Mustatea
Rotating Intern
DVM, MRCVS, Msc. in Emergency and Critical Care
Monica graduated from the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest in 2022. During her studies she worked as a veterinary assistant for 4 years at Pet Stuff, the biggest veterinary hospital in Romania. Concurrently, she followed training opportunities in various veterinary centres in Spain, Italy and Poland.
After graduation she worked as a general practitioner and emergency veterinarian at Pet Stuff taking a special interest in neurological patients. In August 2023 she started a specialty internship in neurology and neurosurgery at Malpensa Veterinary Clinic, a big referral clinic in northern Italy, where she delved deep into the management of neurological patients.
In November 2024, Monica joined Southfields Veterinary Specialists as a rotating intern to further improve her clinical skills in order to become a well-rounded clinician before embarking into a residency training programme.
Outside the clinical environment Monica enjoys learning new languages, discovering different cultures and taking long walks in nature.
Mia Shenas
Rotating Intern
BVetMed, BA, MRCVS
Mia graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2023 and gained valuable experience in first opinion practice before joining the internship programme.
She has a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and companion animal behaviour, and is currently working towards her Fear Free certification.
Outside of work, Mia enjoys spending time with her four pets, reading, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.
