Our Ophthalmology services are supported by our multi-disciplinary team of specialists and clinicians, with our nursing and patient care assistant teams providing 24-hour care for any ophthalmology patients who need to stay with us while receiving treatment.
Stefan Savov
Ophthalmology Clinician
DVM, PGCertSAOphth, MRCVS
RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology
Stefan graduated from the University of Forestry Management – Sofia, Bulgaria in 2002. His passion for Ophthalmology was established during his university days. After graduation, he worked as a general practitioner in Emergency clinics in Sofia for ten years. He obtained three internship programs between 2008 and 2015. Two of them were in Italy, a general and an ophthalmology program and the last one was a general rotation internship at Willows referral in Solihull. Meanwhile, in 2016 he completed successfully the BSAVA Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Ophthalmology.
Stefan returned to work in a first-opinion practice in London for another two years. Then he returned to Italy to work as an ophthalmology clinician in a Multidisciplinary Hospital in Novara for another two years. Before joining Southfields referrals, He worked for two years as an ophthalmology clinician in a Veterinary Hospital in Leicester.
His free time is dedicated to his family and two wonderful sons but when they have the opportunity they are cycling or taking long walks.
Amber Cooke
Ophthalmology Registered Veterinary Nurse
RVN, BSc BVS, RCH, ISFM Cert Feline Nursing, RVN
Amber qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2014 and started her career at a busy 24 hour hospital. In September 2018, Amber decided to go travelling for three months before starting her role here at Southfields. Amber has a keen interest in feline nursing and emergency care.
Outside of work, Amber enjoys hiking in Scotland, horse riding and spending time with her family and cats.
Sharron Ward
Ophthalmology Patient Care Assistant
VCA
Sharron has been a part of Southfields since 2015 and has 20+ years experience working in the veterinary industry.
She began working as a receptionist, but has since progressed to work in a variety of roles that involve being more hands on with animals and has completed diplomas in Animal Welfare, Ethics, & Law and Herpetology.
Outside work, Sharron enjoys wildlife photography and crafts. She lives with Pixie the cat, Shelley the tortoise, and a white budgie named Angel.
