MEET THE
Anaesthesia and Analgesia TEAM


The Anaesthesia and Analgesia team at Southfields Veterinary Specialist includes RCVS and European specialists, residency-trained consultants and dedicated anaesthesia nurses.

They work closely with our multi-disciplinary clinical team to ensure all of our patients receive the best possible pain relief for any procedures they undergo while in our care. The team also play a key role in the management of emergency and critical care patients.


Fabio Cilli

Head of Anaesthesia and Analgesia

DVM MRCVS

Fabio graduated from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2000. After spending a few years in a private practice in Rome, Fabio moved to Bristol to complete an Internship in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at Bristol Veterinary School. He then went on to complete a three-year residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Fabio worked as a clinical anaesthetist for the Anaesthesia and Analgesia service at the Royal Veterinary College for over four years.

Fabio has a keen interest in pain management for cats and dogs and we are delighted he has joined the Southfields Veterinary Specialists team.


Sophie Mead

Anaesthesia Clinician

MA (Cantab) VetMB MRCVS AFHEA

Sophie graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2018. After 2 years in first opinion practice, She returned to Cambridge for an anaesthesia intern and then to complete a residency in Anaesthesia and Analgesia. During that time she also enjoyed teaching vet students at various stages of their studies.

Sophie enjoys all aspects of anaesthesia and analgesia and also has a strong interest in many aspects of critical care.

During her free time she enjoys climbing, learning aerial arts and spending time outside with her horses and goats. She also loves to keep busy with music, games and escape rooms!


Bartolome Rico Perez

Anaesthesia Clinician

DVM, MRCVS, MVetMed

Bartolome graduated from the University of Cordoba in 2016. After completing an internship in the University of Madrid, he moved to the United Kingdom to complete a rotating internship in small animals at the North Downs Referrals. After completing this internship, he completed an anaesthesia internship in Dick White Referrals, followed by a three-year residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Royal Veterinary College in London.

Although he enjoys all aspects of anaesthesia, he has developed a strong interest in the anaesthetic management of the critical and septic shock patients and locoregional techniques.

Out of work he enjoys reading, playing his guitar and spending time with his two cats, Kinder and Kiwi.



Francesco Santoro

Anaesthesia Clinician

DVM, MRCVS

Francesco graduated from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2008. As a Vet, he has always been passionate about Anaesthesia, Endocrinology, Clinical pathology, Ultrasonography and research methodology.
He decided to move to the UK in 2018 to expand his knowledge and for a whole new life experience. After a one year specialist Internship at Dick White Referrals, he completed a residency program in Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Royal Veterinary College of London.

In his leisure time, Francesco loves to learn something new, travel, climb walls and play board and computer games. Without music and movies, he would be nothing


Maria Cumbreras García

Anaesthesia Intern

MRCVS

María graduated from the University of Córdoba (Spain) in 2016. After graduating she completed a two-month Erasmus+ placement at the University of Hannover, Germany, and later that year started a MSc program at the University of Córdoba.

After finishing the MSc program, Maria completed a small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital from the University of Córdoba before working as part of the emergency team. Following this, she joined a first opinion clinic in Ronda, Málaga. she then moved to Barcelona to complete a one-and-a-half-year anaesthesia internship at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and, at the same time, consolidated her passion about student teaching during her daily basis. Maria also worked as part of the anaesthesia team at AniCura Ars Veterinary Hospital for 9 months.

Outside work, she enjoys pilates, hiking, reading and spending time with her family, her senior cat, Pelusa, and her friends


Charlotte Dyall

Senior Anaesthesia Registered Veterinary Nurse

RVN, DipVNES, C-SQP, RNPD(A+A)

Charlotte worked in a busy first opinion veterinary hospital for 6 years, starting as a veterinary care assistant then registering as a veterinary nurse in May 2017.

She joined Southfields as a multi-disciplinary nurse in February 2020.

Charlotte enjoys all aspects of her job, but after starting at Southfields discovered a love of anaesthesia and joined the anaesthesia and analgesia team in January 2021.

She has been volunteering at the local wildlife hospital since May 2019 and enjoys nursing a variety of exotic pets and British wildlife.


Hilary Bell

Anaesthesia Registered Veterinary Nurse

RVN

In 2010, Hilary started her veterinary career in a first opinion, small animal practice as a student veterinary nurse and qualified in 2013.

She became deputy head nurse in 2016 before deciding that referral nursing was a career path she was keen to explore after 10 years in general practice. Hilary joined the team at Southfields in July 2021.

She has an interest in all aspects of nursing but is particularly attracted to feline nursing having always owned cats. She has a super senior domestic shorthair cat called Lillie who she has had from a kitten.

Outside of work, Hilary is a member of the Scout Association, plays the alto saxophone in a concert band based in Rayleigh and enjoys movies; she considers herself a cinephile.


Grace Oldham

Anaesthesia Registered Veterinary Nurse

RVN

Grace spent her training years in a busy 24 hour hospital, where she enjoyed the fast paced environment. Previously to training as a veterinary nurse, Grace was a dog groomer, which enabled her to learn more about canine behaviour.

Outside of work Grace loves to scuba dive and likes to compete in muddy obstacle races. She recently rehomed an older cat, affectionately called Gummy Joe due to not having any teeth.


Sana Chaudhry

Anaesthesia Registered Veterinary Nurse

RVN, BSc Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science

Sana joined the team at Southfields in January 2021. Sana knew she wanted to work with animals since she was 7 years old, even convincing her parents to get a cat when she was 10. She undertook work experience in stables, sheep and pig farms and many veterinary practices before being accepted onto a Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science degree at the University of Bristol. She was honoured to graduate with a Bachelors degree in 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Sana has been proud to gain experience in busy first opinion, 24-hour and referral hospitals throughout her studies. This experience instilled in her a desire to work in a referral hospital and an interest in physiotherapy.

Outside of work, Sana enjoys reading and writing short stories and spending time with her cat.
