Ane Uriarte

Ane is originally from the Basque country in Spain. She began her studies in Zaragoza (Spain) before she was transferred to the Veterinary School of Paris (ENVA) where she obtained her veterinary diploma. Ane did her general internship at the CHV Fregis, a large referral hospital in Paris after which, she went back to the Veterinary School of Paris to complete a three-year European residency in Neurology and obtained her ECVN diploma in 2011. Ane worked for 8 years as a Neurology and Neurosurgery clinician in a large referral hospital in Surrey where she obtained her RCVS Recognised Specialist in Neurology. Ane then moved to Boston, US to work as an Assistant professor of Neurology-Neurosurgery at Tufts University where she worked as a professor, researcher and clinician for 3 years

Ane’s research interest is in epilepsy and cerebrospinal fluid abnormalities linked to connective tissue disorders, therefore her clinical strength is in brain and spine surgery, with special love and care for neuro-oncology and surgical options for chronic pain management.

Ane’s family loves new adventures and travelling: her husband was born in South Africa, her son in America and her dog in Essex. They all love outdoor activities and learning new cultures and languages.

Virginia Crespo

Neurology Clinician

DVM PGDip MSc DipECVN MRCVS. EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology.

Virginia was born in Barcelona, Spain. She obtained her degree in Veterinary medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), followed by a rotating internship at the same university.
She discovered a passion for neurology and completed a neurology internship at the Animal Health Trust before undertaking a three-year European residency in Neurology at the University of Bristol, where she also obtained an MSc. Virginia was awarded her ECVN diploma in 2022.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, cooking and catching up with friends.

Veronica Gonzalo Nadal

Neurology Clinician

Veronica is originally from Spain, and she graduated from the University of Murcia in 2012. After a couple of years working in first opinion in Spain, she completed her first rotation internship at Ars Veterinary Hospital in Barcelona and shortly after, she moved to the UK to perform her second rotation internship at North Downs Specialist Referrals in 2017.

In 2018 she enrolled at Pride Veterinary Specialists as a Neurology intern. She joined the University of Glasgow in 2019 to complete a four-year European residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Veronica's main interests are neuro-emergencies and inflammatory/infectious diseases affecting the nervous system. In her spare time, she enjoys going hiking with her little dog Pisto, dancing salsa, travelling to new destinations, and enjoying time with family and friends.

Roberto Jose-Lopez

Roberto graduated from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Spain in 2006. Following graduation, he completed a Rotating Internship there and after some time in general practice, he returned to the UAB to complete a Residency in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery between 2009 and 2012.
On completion of his residency, Roberto moved to the UK and joined the Willows Referral Service as a Neurology Clinician. In 2014, Roberto became a board-certified Specialist in Veterinary Neurology and in 2015 he joined the Neurology and Neurosurgery team at the University of Glasgow where he founded the Brain Tumour & Neuro-Oncology Centre for Companion Animals and was Head of Service until July 2021. Roberto then worked as Neurology and Neurosurgery Consultant in another UK private specialist referral until joining Southfields Veterinary Specialists in January 2024.
In 2022, Roberto earned his PhD (cum laude) from the UAB for his research characterising canine glioma as a model for immune evasion in human glioma and his clinical interests include diagnostic neuroimaging, neurosurgery, intracranial pressure estimation, and neuro-oncology.

Outside work, Roberto enjoys hiking, wildlife observation, travelling and farming.

Bruno Lopes

Neurology Clinician

DVM GPCert (Neuro) MRCVS

Bruno is originally from Portugal and graduated from the ICBAS - University of Porto in 2013. Following graduation, he worked in a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, dealing with both routine and emergency consultations, before moving to the UK in June 2017, where he worked in a first opinion practice. During this time, he developed his passion for small animal neurology, and attended several courses on the subject, before completing the General Practitioner certificate in Neurology.

Bruno completed a Neurology internship and an ECVN-approved Residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Anderson Moore's Veterinary Specialists, Hampshire, before moving to Southfields Veterinary Specialists to continue his Neurology journey.

Bruno has two Norwegian Forest cats keeping him busy and, outside of work, he enjoys travelling and nature, as well as the challenge of a CrossFit workout.

Beth Mahon

Neurology Resident

BVM BVS MRCVS

Beth graduated from the University of Nottingham Veterinary School in 2018. She spent a year working in a charity veterinary hospital before undertaking a rotating internship at the University of Cambridge, where she developed an interest in Neurology. Beth then spent several months in a first opinion practice before joining Southfields Veterinary Specialists in May 2021.

Outside of work, Beth enjoys playing the piano and violin, running and playing tennis.

Jad Abouzeid

Neurology Resident

Jad graduated from the University of Nottingham Veterinary School in 2018. He spent his first year and a half as a new vet working in a busy first opinion practice in Birmingham before starting a rotating internship at the University of Cambridge. During his studies and during the internship, Jad developed a keen interest in neurology. This led to him joining Southfields Veterinary Specialists in June 2022.

During his free time, Jad loves to get outside with his camera to take photos of wildlife and exciting travel destinations. He is a keen skier and also has an Advanced PADI scuba license.

Hamish Glover

Neurology Intern

BVSc MRCVS

Hamish graduated with Distinction from the University of Liverpool in 2021, forming a strong interest in Neurology from around third year. From this he went straight into a busy first opinion hospital in the North East. He did this for around a year then completed a rotating internship at a referral hospital in Cheshire.

Outside of work Hamish loves to keep fit, experimenting with food & cooking, music and catching up with his mates who are all over the country.

Georgina Turner

Georgina has spent most of her childhood living on a farm and loves to spend time outdoors. She also enjoys social time with family and friends at the weekend.
Georgina qualified as an RVN IN 2018 while also working for a very busy 24-hour hospital. Since then, she has spent time gaining experience with smaller practices in and around London. Georgina then decided to take the leap of faith into referral nursing, working for Fitzpatrick referrals in Eashing during covid. This is where she discovered her love for Neurology.
Georgina joined our Neurology department in the autumn of 2021. Georgina has a strong interest in physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Ipek Seyis

Prior to joining Southfield Veterinary Specialists, Ipek worked in a first opinion practice in London for 9 years where she completed her qualification as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in February 2019.

Outside of work, Ipek loves to spend time with her family and son, cooking and exploring different cuisines!

Ipek joined the team at Southfields in April 2022.
